KDDi rolls out Toshiba Sportio W62T cellphone

Written by JOJY on June 20, 2008 – 4:17 pm -

We caught a brief glimpse of Toshiba’s Sportio W62T when KDDi announced its vast summer 2008 lineup of phones, but the Japanese carrier is just now giving the handset its proper due with an official launch. As the rather unfortunate name suggests, this one’s intended to help you out in your various athletic endeavors, with it packing an accelerometer and built-in GPS to keep track of how many steps you take and how far you’ve gone, as well as how many calories you’ve burned. As if that wasn’t enough, you’ll also apparently be able to “compose music” by jogging along to special tracks. Otherwise, you can expect a 2.2-inch 240 x 320 display, a built-in 1seg TV tuner, a 2-megapixel camera, and built-in Bluetooth — no word on a price just yet though.

Sprint’s $130 Samsung Instinct twists free

Written by JOJY on June 20, 2008 – 3:59 pm -

Mossy don’t like it, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t put finger to screen and give Samsung’s new Instinct a test of your own. Particularly if you’re a fan of Sprint either by choice or by contract. Available now and right on schedule for $129.99 (with 2 year contract and $100 mail-in rebate), not the original $200 bounced around initially. With Sprint trying hard to position the Instinct as an iPhone killer, we guess they really didn’t have a choice but to undercut it in price.

The BlackBerry KickStart Flip Experience

Written by JOJY on May 29, 2008 – 3:37 am -

The BlackBerry KickStart is getting a little more REAL each and every day. When it comes to making calls the KickStart will work like any other flip, and when it comes to messaging, flipping the KickStart open will be like pulling an existing BlackBerry Device model from its holster. As one would expect, you will be able to use the music player with the phone closed.

The simplest and cheepest cell phone

Written by JOJY on May 29, 2008 – 2:14 am -

The name says it all. The Spartan Cell Phone from hop-on will only cost you $10. This cell phone is for the frugal at heart. No display, no bells and whistles, just a plain old keypad to make your calls with. I think there is a growing number of consumers out there that just want to make a phone call. They’re not worried about chatting online, receiving emails, or taking pictures. They just want a simple device that they can call home with. I personally, the last time I purchased a cell phone I looked for the most basic device I could find so this is something I’ll surely look at a little deeper. Go see one at hop-on. Here are the basics of this unit: Size: 96.6mm(D)x41.6mm(W)x14mm(H) Weight: 77g Bands: Dual-band 850/1900MHz or 900/1800MHz Battery: Standard Li-Ion 600mAh Battery Life: Talk time 4 hours; Standby time 150 hours Ringer: Polyphonic (16 Midi) Embedded Vibration: Yes SIM Lock: Yes Keypad Lock: Yes

Sony Ericsson busts out a Ducati-themed Z770

Written by JOJY on May 29, 2008 – 1:44 am -

¬†We’ve seen plenty of gear co-branded by high-end automakers, but only Ducati’s really putting out bike-themed gear, and the latest gadget to get dressed up in cycle gear is the Sony Ericsson Z770 flip phone. Due out in Italy this June, the Ducati Z770 isn’t anything particularly special apart from that paint job and a special Ducati-themed HBH DS-220 headset, but if you’re into tri-band GSM non-smartphones with slightly better browsers, it’s not a bad piece of kit. Just remember to take your keys out of your bike when you wander off chatting away, alright?
